ICU: INDIVIDUALIZED COACHING WITH URGENCY

ICU proposes to provide an understandable and transformative approach to conflict management, which will help 150 children, 100 caregivers, 50 mentors, and community members to improve their efficacy in conflict management while developing a greater sense of openness to others.

Participants in the program will experience a developmentally appropriate process that will:

•Enhance their social and coping skills.

•Encourage the development of supportive peer relationships.

•Provide and develop role models who are skilled in positive anger management and who exhibit positive coping behaviors.

•Provide a safe and supportive climate where current social beliefs regarding violence may be examined and challenged.

•Empower children, youth, and adults to explore alternative solutions to conflicts, while expanding their problem solving and non-violent conflict regulation skills.

•Gain an appreciation for the role that community building and pro-social communication can play in the reduction of family and community conflict
