“It’s Going To Take Us To Save Us.”
Meet our Founder
Tyrone Muhammad was incarcerated for 21 years. While inside, he witnessed other inmates being released only to later return to the same lifestyle. After witnessing the recidivism, Tyrone created Ex-Cons for Community and Social Change, ECCSC, to combat this issue.

“Violence Needs A Job.”

We serve ALL people in underserved communities.
ECCSC believes in engaging with people where they are and within their own communities. By utilizing the life experience and street influence of “Ex-Cons,” ECCSC has created change in men who have previously perpetrated violence throughout Chicago. We view the current state of crime and violence as a lifestyle, where peer pressure, social media, miseducation, poverty, unemployment, mental health issues and unhealthy role models contribute to unchecked gangs, drugs and violence.
-
Ex-Cons are partly to blame for the gangs, drugs, and violence that have ravaged underserved communities.
Repaying our debt to society doesn’t end after being released from prison - we have an important role to play in the rebuilding of our communities.
-
We utilize a holistic approach in order to empower communities and individuals with the tools, resources and skills they need to be productive and successful.
We are rebuilding our city by engaging with our communities at a person-to-person level. Advocating for social change is at the forefront of our approach, as we view the current political system and allocation of resources as corrupt, unhelpful for improvement and unaware of what needs to be done to fix blighted communities.

Contact ECCSC and let us know how we can help your community.
We are located in Chicago, IL and are expanding throughout the nation.
